Dr. Augustine Sangson Langyintuo, Past President is a Senior Agribusiness Specialist at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group, based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Augustine is the immediate Past-President of the African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE), elected to office during its 4th Congress in Hammamet Tunisia, in September 2013. Since its inception in 2004, Augustine has been a very active member of the AAAE. Prior to joining IFC in June 2013, Augustine worked with the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), Nairobi where he rose up to the Head of Policy & Partnerships Program. Prior to that, Augustine worked in several positions within national and international research institutes including the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) for over 20 years as an Agricultural Economist. He also headed the Socio-Economics Unit of the Savanna Agricultural Research Institute, Ghana while lecturing several courses in the field of agricultural economics at the University for Development Studies, Ghana.
A trade economist and an agribusiness expert, Augustine is an accomplished publisher, consultant and fund raiser. He has published over 100 articles in several international peer review journals and conference proceedings. He previously served as an Associate Editor of the African Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics and reviews for several international Journals. Affiliated to several professional bodies, Augustine serves on various Advisory Boards. Augustine holds a PhD (Agricultural Economics) from Purdue University, USA an MSc Degree (Agricultural Economics) from Reading University, United Kingdom and a BSc (Upper Honors) Degree in Agriculture from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. Augustine is Ghanian.
