PROFESSOR KWADWO ASENSO-OKYERE
Professor Kwadwo Asenso-Okyere is the
Director of the International Service for National Agricultural Research (ISNAR)
Division of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). He
holds a BSc (Honors) degree from University of Ghana, MSc from University
of Guelph, Canada, and PhD from University of Missouri-Columbia, USA.
Previously he was Vice-Chancellor of University of Ghana and before then
Director of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER),
University of Ghana. He has also worked with the World Bank, Ghana
Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Ghana Cocoa Board. He has authored or
co-authored about 130 publications. He has received several honors
including Who is Who in Ghana; an award for long, loyal and meritorious
service from the Kumawu Traditional Council of Ghana; a leadership award
for outstanding contribution to contemporary society from the American
Biographical Institute; included in the outstanding people of the 20th
century for outstanding contribution to development research and also
included in the Who’s Who in the 21st century in honor of
outstanding contribution in the field of development policy management by
the Cambridge International Biographical Centre; an award for excellence
for outstanding work in the community and valued contribution to the
global partnership of Roll Back Malaria by the World Health Organization.
He is a fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, fellow of the
Association of Certified Entrepreneurs, member of the New York Academy of
Sciences, American Agricultural Economics Association, International
Association of Agricultural Economists, of which he was the associate
editor of its journal, Agricultural Economics for eight years, African
Association of Agricultural Economists, Ghana Association of Agricultural
Economists, and other associations.
